WINTER BEAUTY TIPS BY STERRE ROSE
(31) is the founder of Sterre Rose Beauty, an online beauty store specialised in Japanese skincare.
'In autumn I pull out my Philips Wake Up Light-alarm; by simulating the sunrise it's easier to get out of bed in the morning.'
Winter Beauty Tips?
'I follow a four-step Japanese skincare routine on a daily basis: cleanse with a cleansing oil, hydrate with a lotion, treat with a serum, and lock in the hydrating layers with a moisturiser. Additionally, in winter I love to use Makanai Face Steam Mask––a reusable steam face mask which contains skin-enhancing ingredients.
On grey, cold days I also like to glide KORA Organics Noni Glow Face Balm on my cheekbones. To counteract dull looking skin, I use Makanai Konjac Sponge to remove dead skin cells and get glowing. Konjac sponge is a natural,
100% biodegradable exfoliator. It's more gentle for your skin and an eco-friendly alternative to exfoliants with plastic micro beads that are harmful to the environment.
Relax Ritual?
'When taking a bath, I exfoliate my body using Washi Paper Body Scrub Towel, inspired by the Japanese 'Onsen' bathing culture. It gently removes dead skin cells and stimulates the blood flow; following this I apply organic camellia-oil all over.
Immune Booster?
'I don't eat a lot of meat, so I take B12 supplements, plus Vitamin D, given the lack of sunshine in winter.
Comfort Food?
'Spicy food. I love to order a Vietnamese Pho, or Japanese ramen; or enjoy preparing a spicy broccoli soup with sweet potato. Sometimes I like to add chili-peper pieces to my ginger tea with lemon.
Winterblues Remedy?
'Surrender to that feeling. Treat yourself to a relaxing herbal bath. My favourite is Makanai Herbal Bath Infusion, available in scents such as Mandarin Orange or Hinoki (Japanese cypress). Phone off; music and candles on...'
